17yr Old Yanga Sobetwa Is Winner Of Idols SA Season 14

After three months of hard work by the contestants, and voting by the audience, the results were finally announced, and Yanga Sobetwa emerged winner of Idols SA season 14.

Yanga, 17, snatched victory when she garnered a whooping 142 million season record votes, going home with R1.5 million, a car, and other juicy prizes.

A very excited Yanga Sobetwa said:

“Dreams do come true. I’ve always dreamed about this, from the year that Loyiso Gijana, entered (2015). From there I was just inspired.”

My family is so happy. Apparently, my mom passed out when the announcement was made. I don’t know how true that is.”

During the Mzansi Magic penultimate episode, Yanga wow’d the judges and the audience when she debuted her single, Scars (All Over Me). It triggered a standing ovation from all.

“They had never heard the song and for me to get a standing ovation for that was mind-blowing,” she told Sowetan Live.

On her social page, she appreciated her fans and told them:

“I’m a millionaire at 17, I have my own car, I have a voucher from Truworths…..I’m super grateful.”

Going forward, Yanga wants to focus on recording her album and growing a fan base for the genre of music she wants to pursue, describing it as gospel pop.
