Heaven Calls at Camp Sossus

Located in the Namib Tsaris Conservancy, Camp Sossus is in this natural buffer from the harshest desert conditions. Built in a naturally formed amphitheater, also provides a position to avoid the harsh desert sun. The severity of the desert climate was taken into high consideration when this beautiful camp was designed to give its guests the best way to experience Sossusvlei.

With eight shaded luxury tents made of recycled oil drums, wooden pallets and other recycled metals, this camp is virtually invisible from any distance and carries the lowest environmental footprint of any camp in Namibia.

Whether you’re on a nature drive, nature walk, mountain bike or taking in the sights from a daybed the possibilities are endless for the experiences and memories that you’ll keep forever!

The way that the world transforms at night is one of the most incredible sights, but the way you experience that transformation at Sossusvlei Under Canvas is one like no other. Picture this… sleeping under a blanket of a billion stars in a beautifully remote corner of the world.

Sleeping here, surrounded by stars and so much beauty, I got a glimpse into the heavens. Seeing 20 shooting stars and sleeping under the stars, it felt like my sweet Jenny talking to me as she went to heaven. She passed away while I was in Africa and this was a beautiful sign from her.

With open-air bathrooms with a flush toilet and hot water bucket shower, spacious communal lounge, dining room, campfire circle and a beautiful deck to take in all of your views, this camp is a magical place to allow you to fully immerse yourself in. You won’t even notice that you have no wifi when you look out at the waterhole for wildlife viewing!
