Swazi King’s Wife Senteni Masango, 37, Laid To Rest After Allegedly Committing Suicide

According to Mpumalanga news, One of the wives of the king of Swaziland has been found dead at his private palace after reportedly taking her own life.

The body of Senteni Masango, 37, was discovered on Friday afternoon amid reports she had been suffering from depression having not been allowed to attend her sister’s memorial service and funeral. She was believed to have overdosed on about 40 amytriptyline capsules at the end of March.

Queen LaMasango, as she was known after her marriage, was the 8 of 15 wives of King Mswati III of Swaziland – Africa’s last absolute monarch. She married the king back in 2000, at age 18 and they have 2 children together.

According to sources close to the palace, the queen was said to have struggled with life at the palace, so she resorted to plastic surgery and painting in her spare time to relieve the misery of her royal life. She was also said to have lived alone for more than three years in a big mansion with not a single visit from her husband.

However, a source close to the king said “The king finds her death very painful, as they were a happy couple.”

Her sad death came barely a week after the burial of her sister Nombuso.
