Tee-Y Mix and Ivie in Edo Traditional Attire for Brides

Avatar Rosie
September 26, 2019

Ivie is in the full Edo traditional wedding attire for a bride; she has wrapped around her a red velvet wrapper (fabric) which extend from the chest to the feet.

Now let’s talk about the beadwork, the Bini traditional attire is never complete without the beads. The Edo Bridal attire is synonymous with beads, beads and more beads!

Eto-Okuku ( Beaded Crown) This is a hairstyle perculiar to Edo Brides, where coral beads are sewn into the hair to form a crown. These days there are ready made Eto Okukus in the form of wigs already styled with coral beads.

Ivie Uru (beaded necklace)

Emi-ehorivie (beaded earrings)

Ivie Obo (hand beads)

The Edo bride usually ties a wrapper on her chest. This wrapper can either be George, lace or velvet fabric.
