Tsonga Beauties Showing off Their Xibelani Skirt Styles

The Xibelani skirt is usually worn by the Tsonga (Vatsonga) people who reside in Southern Mozambique and South Africa (Limpopo and Mpumalanga). They speak Xitsonga, a Southern Bantu language.

The xibelani dance (Shibelani, Shibelana, Shibelane) is an indigenous dance of the Tsonga women. The name “Xibelani” comes from the native Xitsonga language and which can be translated as “hitting to the rhythm”.
