“I Always wanted to be a Pilot”

Irene Koki Mutungi is the first African female pilot to fly the Boeing 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft. 

Irene Koki Mutugi was born 1976, her father, Captain Mutungi, was a commercial pilot. She was only 17 when she became the first female pilot in Kenya.

“I always wanted to become a pilot.It is thrilling.

I was very nervous before my first solo. But once I got up in the air, I was relaxed. I was on my own, the sun was setting and it was so exciting.”
