Meet Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong aka Dintle Of etv Soapie -‘Scandal’

Mapaseka Koetle, who is popularly known for her role as Dintle, in the etv soapie, ‘Scandal,’ is a South African actress, born in Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa, in 1989.

Pasi, as she is fondly called, was raised together with her sister, Rakgadi, by her mother, after her parents divorced when she was only seven years old.

As she grew older, and realized how difficult life was at home, she packed her bags and headed for Johannesburg in search of greener pastures.

Mapaseka got enrolled at AFDA, and studied Acting for Camera at City Varsity, where she graduated in 2011 with a Diploma.

She started theater when she got the role of ‘Lesedi’ in the hit play “Show Off.” She broke into film on Mzanzi Magic’s local film, ‘Second Chances’ produced Andile Ncube.

In 2015, She won the award for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress’ at the Royal Soapie Awards. Today Koetle shares a stage with the likes of the legendary Maake ka-Ncube and her all-time favorite actress Nthati Moshoesh.

Beyond acting, Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong, is also an entrepreneur, and owns a restaurant franchise, ‘Gorge’ in Sandton, which she runs with her husband.

Outside of work and business, the actress has a funny yet motivational column where she posts videos on her Instagram page on Fridays, with her friend Tsakani Mdluli, called ‘Mqoqo’ (chat) Fridays.

Being raised by a strong single mum and a close knit family, Pasi is so in love with her mum, and ensures she and her family spend time with her and just have fun. She’s also so fond of her sister, Rakgadi, who she refers to as her bestie.

Rakgadi who refers to her sister as ‘Pasi’ says she and Mapaseka are best friends. She said: “We share everything and we know everything about each other. Pasi is forever laughing and tends to laugh in serious situations too. Wherever she is, there’s good energy. Mapaseka is also a neat freak. She is forever tidying up her house,” she laughs.

“She is also a prayer warrior, and it is one of her biggest strengths, amongst many. To grow spiritually, she enjoys reading spiritual books.”

30yr old Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong, is happily married to Nelson, and they both welcomed their daughter, Nema, in September 2016.

Nema is a combination of the first two letters from her name and that of her husband. “Ne” from Nelson and “Ma” from Mapaseka.
