What Do Senegalese People Wear?

The traditional clothing of Senegal is the boubou.
The “Complete” or “Grand” Boubou is actually like what you call a three-piece suit comprising a tunic, trousers and a boubou.
You wear the tunic with the trousers first, then finish your dressing by wearing the Boubou on top.
This Senegalese boubou has become a common clothing in West Africa. This three-piece suit requires a generous amount of fabric, between 9 to 12 metres.
The quality of your boubou depends on three major things:
1. The fabric: less pricey boubous are usually made from wax or cotton while expensive boubous are made from Damask and Bazin. The more shinny the fabric the better.
2. The Embroidery: rich embroidery makes the boubous more expensive.
3. The Sewing/ Tailoring: paying attention to details. Is the boubou handmade or machine made?
