The Kente cloth originates from the Ashanti people of Ghana and started out as an exclusive piece of clothing for royalty.

Kente cloth is hand woven silk, cotton or rayon strips of cloth which are about 10cm wide.. These bands are then sewn together to collectively make a larger cloth.

Various weaving methods used in producing the Kente cloth is what results in the different patterns of the fabric. The Kente cloth is usually woven by men mainly in the Kumasi region of Ghana.

The cost of Kente depends on the quality of the fabric and the weaving.
