Efik brides are known for their unique colourful dressing which separates them from other tribes.
Their major traditional wedding attire is the Onyonyo. This is a big long flowing gown of any colour or pattern. They also wear hand and leg gears known as Ekpa ku kwa, and adorn their necks with coral beads. The icing on the cake which gives the Efik woman that signature look, are the hair pins or combs, which are also called wigs.
Lastly, is the decorated staff carried by the bride which gives her the regal look and a sense of power and control.
