How to take Care of Relaxed Hair and Make it Grow

1. Leave a bit of Texture
It is however better to aim for about 80% straightening leaving a little texture in the hair rather than 100% bone straightening. Relaxed hair with a bit of texture is more resistant to breakage and dryness than bone straight hair.
Relaxed hair with more texture also eases the stress line that usually occurs between the relaxed hair an new growth and is less prone to breakage.
2. Stretch out Applications
Stretching out your relaxer applications (retouching) reduces the frequency of your hair coming in contact with these chemicals helping you to keep thicker and healthier hair.
If you can wait 12-16weeks in between relaxing treatments you would be doing your hair a lot of good.
3. Reduce Combing and Over Manipulation
As the new growth increases there appears to be a demarcation between the new growth and previously relaxed hair. That line is quite fragile and is usually where breakage takes place.
During this period, rather than combing or heat styling go for protective styles like braids, cornrows and weaves.
4. Balance Moisture and Protein
Two major causes of relaxed hair breakage are over manipulation and inadequate moisture and protein.
Getting deep conditioning treatments every week help in retaining moisture in the hair. It is important to note that it it becomes even more necessary to get these regular conditioning treatments when the new growth appears.
You may also incorporate protein conditioning every 2-3weeks.
