1. Yemi Alade

Yemi Eberechi Alade was born March 13, 1989 in Abia State, Nigeria, West Africa. She is a multi-award winning Afropop singer and songwriter who begun her musical journey professionally after emerging winner of the “Peak Talent Show” in 2009.

Since then she has turned out several hit singles including “Johnny” (2014), “Tangerine” (2014), “Kissing” (2014), “Ferrari” (2016), “Kom Kom” ft. Flavour (2016), “Oh My Gosh” (2018), “Shekere” ft. Angelique Kidjoe (2020) among others.

Yemi Alade has four albums to her name so far;”King of Queens” (2014), “Mama Africa” (2016), “Black Magic” (2017), and “Woman of Steel” (2019).

2. Sho Madjozi

Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif a.k.a Sho Madjozi is a South African rapper, songwriter, actress and poet born May 9, 1992 in Limpopo. Her mother, Rosemary Phaweni and father, Marc Wegerif (European) ran an NGO to assist people with land claims issues.

Sho Madjozi spent some of her teen years in Tanzania where she graduated from International School of Tangayika. She later got a scholarship to study Creative Writing and African Studies at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, US where she sharpened her poetic skills under the name “Maya the Poet”. She later returned to study at the University of South Africa and also started writing songs for artists.

Sho Madjozi’s style is influenced by Tsonga culture (South African ethnic group)which is seen in her outfits and performance, she is also fond on wearing hairstyles of fulani origin.

She has several hit singles including “DumiHiphone” (2017), “Huku” (2018), “Wakanda Forever” (2018), and “John Cena” (2019) in addition to her album “Limpopo Champions Leage” released December, 2018.

She has won awards from the South African Music Awards and “Best International Act 2019” from BET Awards. She was recently labelled “a New Kind of Global Popstar” by the New York Times.

3. Becca

Rebecca Akosua Acheampomaa Acheampong is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter born August 15, 1984 in Kumasi, Ghana.

Her first album “Sugar” which was released in 2007 earned her five nominations at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards. She has released two more albums after that; “Time 4 Me” (2013) which had singles “Forever”, “Push”, and “Bad Man Bad Girl” and “Unveiling” in 2017.

Becca has won several awards including “4Style TV Music Video” Awards, Ghana Music Awards, and Nigerian Youth Achievers Awards.
Becca got married to Nigerian Entrepreneur and Artist Manager, Oluwatobi Sanni Daniel, August 2018, they have a daughter together.

4. Tiwa Savage

Tiwatope Savage a.k.a Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian Singer and International Songwriter, born February 5, 1980 in Lagos, Nigeria.

At the age of 11 she moved to London and five years later she started and continued doing back up vocals for international artists like Mary J Blige, George Michael, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli and Ms. Dynamite. She also did back up vocals for Whitney Houston’s “I look to you” in 2009.

After graduating from the University of Kent with an accounting degree she attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she also bagged a professional music degree in 2007.

In 2009 she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and has written songs for a number of international artists including  Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia, Monica and Mýa.

Tiwa has three albums to her name: “Once Upon a Time” (2013) with hit singles “Kelekele”, “Love Me”, “Without My Heart” and “Eminado”, R.E.D (Romance. Expression. Dance. 2015) with two major singles “Standing Ovation” and “My Darlin”, and Sugarcane (2017).

Tiwa savage has a son from Her marriage to Tee Billz in 2013 which lasted about two and a half years.

5. Nandy

Faustina Charles Mfinanga a.k.a Nandy in a Tanzanian singer born November 9, 1992 in Moshi, Tanzania. In 2016, she emerged the first runner up of the “Tecno Own the Stage” singing competition.

She’s released a number of singles since then including “I’m Confident” (2013), “Nagusa Gusa” (2017), “One day” (2017), and “Ninogeshe” (2018) among others.

Nandy won the “Best Female Artiste East Africa” award at the 2017 All Africa Music Awards and the 2018 “Best Female Newcomer” award at the AMI Awards Afrika.
